Mango cultivation in Egypt has achieved tremendous success, which is easy to notice by tracking the development of cultivated areas during the last two decades, and it is expected that the increase will continue in the future.
The local market can absorb a large amount of the expected increase in the crop, in addition to the possibility of exporting to the European and Arab markets, where there is little competition, given that Egypt is the closest production center for mangoes from these markets.
Accordingly, to obtain high-quality mangoes, Tamkeen experts recommend following these recommendations until the end of March:
1- Regular irrigation according to the nature of the soil and the age of the trees, taking care not to be exposed to drought and stress or to increase irrigation than needed, with attention to the cleanliness of drippers and filters, in addition to the need for direct irrigation after rains so that salts do not accumulate around the roots.
2- Examination of new growths to ensure that they are free from fungal diseases and insects, especially sucking borers, sooty mold and powdery mildew, with the need to remove clumps and disinfect their place with the recommended fungicide.
3- Regular fertilization of major and minor elements. It is preferable not to waste extravagance in fertilization, while paying attention to spraying auxins, microelements, and compounds that stabilize nodes according to recommendations and planned quantities.
4- Paying attention to manual control of weeds during this period, collecting and disposing of them, taking into account not using herbicides.
